Caracas, Venezuela September 24, 2018: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Asociacion Venezolana de Fitness Funcional Competitivo as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Venezuela.

Ronel Velasquez, President of the Venezuelan Federation, announced, “Our team has worked very hard to make this possible. Now that we are officially with the IF3, we want the best for the sport in our country.”

He went on to explain that, “Our first focus is to make a national championship and some other activities in order to make the sport strong.”

The Venezuelan Federation will be aiming to send a contingent of athletes to next year’s International Functional Fitness Federation World Championships. The location for the 2019 World Championships will be announced at the iF3 Congress Meeting on October 4th. More information about the work of the Venezuelan Federation is available at

Velasquez expressed his excitement about the future saying, “We believe in the future of the sport, and we can make it possible through to the youngest age groups, and we will work on that with the Venezuelan junior athletes. IF3 represents a window to really make functional fitness a robust sport.”

Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “We are thrilled to welcome Venezuela to the iF3 family. We are excited to continue to expand our number of National Federations in South America and look forward to seeing the growth of the sport in Venezuela.”
