January 30, 2025 Today in a Special Assembly the iF3 National Federations voted on and passed 4 new proposals relating to Anti-Doping, the addition of a new Junior Age Group, and the consistency of the iF3 international event schedule.
In regards to anti-doping, the National Federations have voted to create an Antidoping fund in order to raise money to apply for WADA signatory status and implement additional testing at events. The iF3 will set a recommended annual contribution amount to the fund. However, Federations who are able to are welcome to contribute more than the recommended amount, and Federations who are less financially stable may contribute in smaller increments as they grow. The National Federations also voted to include an antidoping testing fee in athlete event registrations. The money generated from this fee must be used for antidoping programs and cannot be used for other initiatives.
The proposal to add a new 21-22 years old Junior age group also passed this morning. This proposal was initiated in order to provide more opportunities for still-developing athletes to compete on the international stage as well as decrease the pressure on young athletes to be immediately competitive at the Senior Elite level. The age group will officially be added for 2026 events. However, the iF3 will have discussions with 2025 event organizers and give them the option to include this age group where appropriate.
Finally, the Federations unanimously voted for more consistency in the event calendar. Passing a resolution which will see Masters Worlds being held no earlier than October 1st each year and Worlds no earlier than November 1st.
