São Paulo, Brazil July 24, 2018: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Associação Brasileira de Fitness Funcional as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Brazil.
Bruno Fornari, CEO of the Brazilian Federation, announced “being a member of the IF3 means a lot because Brazil is one of the biggest country in the world, and second in number of Functional Fitness participants. Brazil can grow to be one of the most important countries for our sport, increasing the chances of having Brazilian athletes on worlds competition and at the Olympics in near future.”
He went on to explain that “our plans for this year are training and certifying judges for sanctioned events and we have put in a bid to host worlds in Brazil in 2019. We are also talking to sponsors to make it possible to take Brazilian athletes to Worlds in London in 2018.”
The Brazilian Federation will be looking to send a contingent of athletes to compete at the International Functional Fitness Federation World Championships this fall. The World Championships will be held October 5-7th, 2018 in London, England and features athletes from around the world. Fornari expressed his excitement about the future saying “as we are in this fitness competition area for years, we have decided to join the IF3, focused on get everything running based on international standards and looking for high quality events.”
Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “The functional fitness community in Brazil is very large and very strong, and the team behind the Brazilian Federation has incredible experience in the sport with a particularly robust background in event management.
