The iF3 announced today that Australia’s Mel Robinson has been added to the iF3 Board of Directors. Robinson will be taking over the Vice-President role following the resignation of John Mustafa, who is leaving the Board to focus on his family and a new career path.
Robinson has been involved in the sport of functional fitness since 2011. She founded the Australian Functional Fitness Federation and has served as its President since 2019. She was also the event director for the first iF3 Masters Worlds Championships and has been instrumental in continuing to expand and grow the iF3 Masters event portfolio. Robinson will be taking a leading role in helping the iF3 to standardize operational procedures and event management protocols for Championship level events.
iF3 President, Gretchen Kittelberger, welcomed Robinson to the Board saying, “We are very excited to welcome Mel to the iF3 Board of Directors. Mel has played a large role in helping the iF3 on various committees and hosting and managing events over the past several years, so the transition to having her as our new Vice President will be quite seamless. Mel’s addition also brings our Board of Directors to a 50/50 gender split, and we are thrilled that we can have the same gender parity that we see on the field of play in our sport also within our leadership team.”
Robinson expressed her excitement at joining the iF3 Board saying, “I’m excited and honored to be selected to join the iF3 executive board. Since joining the Federation in 2019 I have seen a huge amount of progress! Being an active part of the iF3 movement has been a tremendously gratifying experience for me, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the sport of functional fitness continue to progress.”
Robinson will start her role with the iF3 effectively immediately in an interim capacity until an official vote can be taken at the next iF3 Board meeting.
