Fortaleza- Ceará, Brazil September 30, 2025: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Confederação Brasileira De Funcional Fitness (CBFF) as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Brazil. The CBFF will replace the former National Federation in Brazil, the now inactive BrasilF3.
Thiago Pires, President of the CBFF, announced, “we have a bold project to organize a sport that has become accustomed to being disorganized (compared to other more traditional sports). We need the help of everyone in Brazil, not only athletes, but amateurs and enthusiasts to join in these first years of the national institution so that we can build something solid that will last for the future of our sport.”
He went on to explain that, “As a simple first goal, we must send a Brazilian delegation of more than 20 athletes to iF3 events in 2026. What are 20 athletes compared to 212 million Brazilians? But we know the financial difficulties of our athletes and the challenges that our geography represent due to the size of the country. Therefore, we will divide our Brazilian championship into two phases: the in-person phase in states where there are already F3 federations affiliated with our confederation. For states that do not have them, we will offer a first online challenge, and the top 10 from each state (combining the in-person and online stages) will advance to a second, high-level online phase. After that, we define the champions in the appropriate categories and begin the odyssey of raising funds to make everyone’s presence at iF3 Worlds possible!”
Athletes from Brazil will now have a clear pathway to attend iF3 international events. With Masters Worlds in Australia in November and Worlds in Lithuania in November, Brazil is immediately eligible to send athletes to these events. Pires expressed his excitement about the future saying. ” The intention to help younger athletes, especially, is latent, but we are aware of the limitations of a newly founded institution and practice the humility of this beginning. So we will focus on the basics and try to do it excellently. Depending on how much we grow as an institution in 2027, we can dream of a 100% in-person Brazilian championship for both phases. We already ask for the attention of our country’s political entities to assist in whatever way possible within their institutional limitations.”
Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “We are very excited to resume activities in Brazil with the CBFF. Brazil has a strong base of participants in Functional Fitness and deserve a properly governed sport to compete in. We are very glad that the CBFF is stepping up to continue the work that BrasilF3 initially started, and we look forward to working closely with them to grow the sport in Brazil.”
