Hobro, Denmark September 24, 2018: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Danish Functional Fitness Organization as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in the Denmark.
Kasper Myrup, President of the Danish Federation, announced, “We are very excited about this, and we are looking forward to laying the foundation for the Danish community within functional fitness. Becoming a member of the iF3 turns us into a professional federation, that puts the sport up on a level where it belongs.”
He went on to explain that, “We are in the startup phase with our Danish federation. The rest of 2018, and especially 2019, is going to be exciting times where we plan to get everyone within the Danish functional fitness community involved. We are currently planning how next year’s qualification process will look and which competitions are going to be involved. Big things are coming!”
The Danish Federation is sending a contingent of athletes to compete at the 2018 Functional Fitness Federation World Championships in London, England in less than 2 weeks. Competing in the Individual Women’s division will be Frederikke Frandsen, Jane Bjørn, and Stine Wang Pinilla. Representing in the Individual Men’s Division will be Klaus Uggerhøj, Phil Thun Bisgaard, and Daniel Skov. The 4 person Team representing Denmark will be comprised of Julian Kragh-Maschvitsz, Filip Yang Fisker, Christina Agerbeck, and Cecilie Aaes. More information about the work of the Danish Federation is available at https://www.instagram.com/danish_functional_fitness/. More information will come in the near future.
Myrup expressed his excitement about the future saying, “This is exactly what we need in Denmark, and I’m certain the support in the community is going to be great. Having a federation that has written down the guidelines about how to compete, is a part of an anti-doping organization, and is setting a high standard is what every country needs regarding functional fitness. But first and foremost, I am looking forward to seeing our great Danish athletes in action at Worlds in London in a few weeks.”
Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “The Danish Federation was able to form and mobilize with incredible speed, and we are very excited that they have formed in time for Worlds. They have a strong team of athletes coming to contend for podium spots, and it will make for a very exciting competition. I know our other Nordic Federations are excited as well, as the addition of the Danish Federation now potentially makes a Nordic Championship a real possibility in the future.”
