Cairo, Egypt February 13, 2018: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Egyptian Functional Fitness Federation (EFFF) as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Egypt.
Adam Elzoghby, President of the Egyptian Federation, announced, “We are extremely happy to work closely with the International Functional Fitness Federation. Egypt has been eagerly waiting for this! The sport is growing tremendously, and we are honored to be part of that movement that is working towards growing functional fitness as a competitive sport in Egypt and giving our athletes the opportunity to represent their country and compete in different international events.”
He went on to explain that, “In 2018 we will start working on our local competitions to thoroughly choose the national team that will represent Egypt and that will participate in London at the World Championship in October. Additionally, we are working on developing strong judges’ and coaches’ programs in order to improve the overall quality and standards in following the “Fair Play” conduct and showing the ethical values that the sport presents.”
The Egyptian Federation will be looking to send a contingent of Egyptian athletes to compete at the International Functional Fitness Federation World Championships this fall. The World Championships will be held October 5-7th, 2018 in London, England and feature athletes from around the world. Elzoghby expressed his excitement about the future saying, “We look forward to developing a structured national program here in Egypt that would serve the best interests of the sport, athletes and Judges. Being the first fitness federation in Africa and the Middle East gives us an even bigger responsibility not only in developing the sport in Egypt but in the region too. We have a solid vision to create regional federations in Africa and the Middle East by collaborating with all of the National Government bodies in the region”.
Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “With the addition of the Egyptian Functional Fitness Federation to the iF3, we have officially added our first Federation on the African Continent. We are very excited to have such a great team leading the Egyptian Federation, and we are confident that they will do great work to enable the growth of the sport not only in Egypt but in all of Africa and the Middle East.
