Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Federacion Salvadoreña De Entrenamiento Funcional as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in El Salvador.
Victor Lopez, President of the Salvadorian Federation, announced, “We are proud to have completed the paperwork and have El Salvador be included as a member of the International Functional Fitness Federation. Our Federation is now looking forward to being an active party in worldwide activities and competitions.”
He went on to explain that, “during the past year we focused on setting up and being announced all over the country. Our next step is to start to recruit athletes into our Federation in order to make it grow and develop a competitive team that can proudly represent us.”
The El Salvadorian Federation is now eligible to send athletes to iF3 international events. This year the iF3 is planning both a World Championship and Masters World Championships to be held in late fall.
Lopez expressed his excitement about the future saying the Federation is, “planting the first seeds into a great future for El Salvador’s Functional Fitness competitive results.”
Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “Functional Fitness is rapidly growing in Central America, and there is already strong interest in the sport in El Salvador. With the work of the new federation in El Salvador, we are confident the sport will not only continue to grow, but that we will very soon see athletes from El Salvador competing for podium spots at international events.”
