The first Continental Championship to be held under the iF3 auspice has been added to the 2022 Season Calendar. The first iF3 European Championships (iF3 Euro) will be held July 15-17th in Monopoli, Italy. The event will be hosted by the iF3’s National Federation in Italy, Functional Fitness Italia (AFFI) in conjunction with Southern Warriors.
iF3 Euro will serve several purposes for the iF3. This will be the launching point for the development of Continental Championships on every continent, which is an important stepping stone in creating consistent global governance for the sport. This event will also be a test event for the iF3’s new HyperMedley format, where athletes will complete their 6 tests in a condensed period of time. Since this event is a test event it will be limited to an individual only competition and will be limited to 10 men and 10 women only.
Quota spots for iF3 Euro will be awarded to National Federations based on European country finishing order in the individual male and individual female competition at 2021 iF3 World Championships. There is a maximum limit of 1 male and 1 female athlete per country. National Federations may select the athlete(s) they would like to invite to Europeans using any procedure they wish. Should a country decline its spot, the spot will pass to the highest country on the reserve list. Below are the country quota places for 2022 iF3 Euro:

iF3 President Gretchen Kittelberger explained her excitement over the iF3’s first Continental Championship, “The iF3 and its National Federations has discussed the desire to eventually have Continental Championships for several years now. While our National Federation development on each continent sits at various points, our European Federations are the largest in number and are very well organized. With the support of Functional Fitness Italia and the opportunity they were able to create for us trial this new concept, we felt this was the right time to start adding a Continental Championship on our most developed continent. We are excited for this new path and it what it means for the growth of the sport.”
