Cordoba, Veracruz. July 28th, 2017: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced it’s recognition of the Federación Mexicana de Fitness Funcional Competitivo A.C. as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Mexico.

Guillermo Cortes, the President of Mexican Federation, announced “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in this global project and to pursue being a part of the Olympic Movement.”

“The inaugural Mexican Functional Fitness National Championships will occur on September 9 and 10 in México City as part of the Black Challenge Competition. This is one of the premier events in the country and in its 3rd Edition.”

This competition is an important one for the Mexican Federation and its athletes. It will determine which athletes will go on to represent the country at the International Functional Fitness Championships held October 21-22, 2017 in Concord, California.

Cortes expressed his excited about the announcement of the Federation by saying “The sport of functional fitness has been around in Mexico for several years now, and there have been some individual efforts for its growth. It’s time that we all get together and work as a team to give order, standardization, and a common set of rules so everybody can participate and organize national and state championships.”

Gretchen Kittelberger, Head of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “The Mexican Federation has shown great organization and passion since our very first communications with them. We are very happy to welcome them to the iF3 family and are excited to see their organization continue to develop and produce great athletes.”

Athlete registration for the Mexican National Championships is now open at: https://www.blackopen.mx/ and https://www.facebook.com/BlackChallengeMX/
