German Functional Fitness Federation Announced

Hannover, Germany March 26, 2018: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the German Functional Fitness Federation (GF3) as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Germany.

Christian Offen, President of Sport of the German Federation, announced, “We are very proud to be part of iF3. We love the sport, and we are glad to be a part of the system to promote functional fitness. This year we place our emphasis on the competitive sport. We want to give our athletes the opportunity to represent the country and start at the World Championships! ”

The GF3 will be looking to send a contingent of German athletes to compete at the International Functional Fitness Federation World Championships this fall. The World Championships will be held October 5-7th, 2018 in London, England and feature athletes from around the world. More information about the work of the GF3 can be found at www.gf3.eu.

Yannick Mehl, President of Finance for GF3 expressed his excitement about the future saying, “we are looking forward to the World Championships, but in the future we want to generate options for mass sport participation, too.”

Björn Benke, President of Marketing of GF3, “The cooperation with iF3 gives us the opportunity to develop worldwide structures in the functional fitness sector. It is the starting signal on the way to an officially recognized sport. We will do our best to establish functional fitness in Germany.”

Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “We proudly welcome the German Federation as members of the International Functional Fitness Federation. They are a very diligent and hardworking group, and we are confident they will make a tremendous impact on the sport. We look forward to watching their incredible athletes at the World Championships this season, as well as working closely with the Federation as they continue to grow and develop.”
