Danish Gymnastic Federation, GymDanmark, has been accepted as a full member of the iF3 and will serve as the National Federation for Functional Fitness in Denmark effective immediately. Danish Gymnastic Federation replaces the now nonoperational Danish Functional Fitness Organization.
Anders Jacobsen, chairman of GymDanmark, announced:
“Functional fitness is a fast-growing sport within our federation. We wish to work together with international friends in developing the discipline both national and internationally, and to do so, we are thrilled to join iF3.”
He went on to explain that, “although functional fitness has been a part of GymDanmark for many years as a recreational sport and as strength optimizing for the elite gymnasts within our organization, this summer we will for the first time offer the activity in competitive form. We are very excited about our upcoming competition, and we hope it will inspire even more athletes to join the sport.”
Denmark plans to send athletes to iF3 Euro July 15-16 in Monopoli, Italy and the 2022 iF3 Worlds in Moscow, Russia August 26-28, as well Masters Worlds in Aruba in November. More information about the work of the Danish Gymnastic Federation is available at https://gymdanmark.dk/
Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented:
“We are thrilled to welcome Danish Gymnastic Federation as our National Federation in Denmark. We have strong Federations in Sweden, Norway, and Finland who have been waiting for a long time for an equally strong Danish Federation to emerge so that they can begin closer collaboration on Nordic specific events and opportunities. We expect to see some phenomenal athletes coming out of Denmark in the next few years along with equally phenomenal opportunities created for them by Danish Gymnastic Federation.”
