Athens, Greece July 22, 2019: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Hellenic Functional Fitness Federation as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Greece.
Nikolas Voliotis, President of the Hellenic Federation, announced, “I am really excited about starting the Hellenic Functional Fitness Federation and having the chance to become a member of the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3). The Greek fitness community will now have a strong voice in an international audience, and we will do everything we can in order to promote the sport we love”.
He went on to explain that, “we now have a lot of tough and important work to do until the end of this year. We must get in touch with all the clubs from all over Greece, inform them about this brilliant chance we have in front of us and cooperate to achieve great results”.
The Hellenic Federation will begin using the Athens Throwdown competition as the Greek National Championships and qualifying competition for Greek athletes to the iF3 World Championships. The Greek Federation have also set their sites on attending their first iF3 World Championships next month. The 2019 World Championships will be held in Malmo, Sweden from August 30-September 1 and will feature athletes from around the world. Voliotis expressed his excitement about the future saying, “we have a unique opportunity to strengthen our community and help Greek athletes to become more internationally known. We will all give our best selves to achieve it”.
Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “The Federation in Greece has been very quick to organize and already have solid plans in place for the future development of their federation. We expect they will be fantastic representatives of the sport in Greece, and we can’t wait to watch the sport grow and develop under their guidance.”
