Naples, Italy June 24, 2025: Today the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced that the 2026 iF3 European Championships will be held in Naples, Italy in July 2026. Naples has been named the European Capital for Sport for 2026 by ACES. The event will be held in collaboration with UBL The Italian Championship with support from the Associazione Functional Fitness Italia (AFFI).
The competition will be for Senior Individual Athletes and be conducted in the iF3’s Hypermedley format. The Hypermedley format is a condensed version of the more traditional functional fitness format and requires athletes to complete 6 tests in a 2 hour timeframe with minimal rest between tests. The format is a fast paced and intense competition that is easy to follow for both the casual spectator and hard core fans.
The first ever iF3 European Championships was held in Monopoli, Italy in 2022 and was the launching point for both the Hypermedley format and for Continental Championships within the iF3.
iF3 President Gretchen Kittelberger commented, “We are very excited to return to Italy in 2026 for the European Championships. Italy was the birthplace of our European Championships, and we look forward to coming back 4 years later to showcase the progress the event and our athletes have made in that time. We know the team behind UBL The Italian Championship run a great event and anticipate a strong collaboration with them and AFFI as we prepare together for the European Championships in Naples, Europe’s Capital for Sports.”
AFFI President, Neil Macleod also expressed his enthusiasm for the event, saying “Four years ago we were sure that the Europe was ready for a continental race, IF3 accepted the bet and now continental events are success events both for elite and master athletes. Italy and AFFI are now ready to host again an ambitious event in one of the most important world competitions, UBL, and in one of the most iconic cities, Naples. Both will be ready to welcome all the best European competitors with an unforgettable event.”
More information about the competition as well as the allotted athlete quota places for National Federations will be available in early 2026.
