Today, the I.R. Iran Functional Fitness Association received its official activity license from the Ministry of Sport and Youth in the Republic of Iran allowing it to act as the National Governing Body for Functional Fitness in Iran.
Asgar Azadian, President of the Iranian Federation, announced, “Firstly, after selecting professional and capable managers in various administrative and technical departments, such as the competition committee, refereeing, coaching, etc., we are aiming to expand throughout the country by recruiting well-known technical coaches and representatives. We plan to attract as many interested people as possible and choose a powerful national team from among the full population in the National and county championships. And, of course, the focus will be on unifying and complying with iF3 standards.”
He went on to explain that, “The plans of the first year will be to establish the main parts of the National association and to select and introduce competent representatives for the provinces, and of course to teach everyone the principles and standards of the IF3, as well as to plan to participate in the first Asian Championships in South Korea.”
The Iranian Federation plans to make their first appearance in iF3 international competition at this year’s Asian Championships in Daegu, South Korea at the end of April. More information about the work of the Iranian Federation is available at www.irf3.ir.
Azadian expressed his excitement about the future saying, “I would like to congratulate the heroes and athletes of the Iranian community who, after waiting for a long time, now have a door opened for them to enter prestigious competitions in line with the Olympic values through IF3. And also thank you to all the dear friends and the IF3 Team of Iran.”
Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “With the official recognition of the Iranian Federation, we expand our presence in the Middle East and Asia, an area where the sport is growing rapidly and one which we plan to focus heavily on in the next few years. The sport has been developing through grass roots channels in Iran for several years, but we are excited to now have the Iranian Federation receive their official recognition through the Ministry of Sport, which will enhance their ability to develop the sport in Iran.”
