Medine Camp de Masque, Mauritius March 1, 2018: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Mauritius Functional Fitness Federation (MFFF) as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Mauritius.

Jaunbocus Mouhammad Tawfiq, President of the Mauritian Federation, announced, “It is with an immense pleasure and pride that, here, in front of you, I announce that the Mauritius Functional Fitness Federation is officially a member of the International Functional Fitness Federation.”

He went on to explain that, “Our goal is to promote the discipline of functional fitness throughout Mauritius and then expand to start, at an early stage, regional competitions before moving to national tournaments.”

The Mauritian Federation will be looking to send a contingent of Mauritian athletes to compete at the International Functional Fitness Federation World Championships this fall. The World Championships will be held October 5-7th, 2018 in London, England and feature athletes from around the world. More information about the work of the MFFF can be found at https://www.facebook.com/Mauritius-Functional-Fitness-Federation-547927325575981/.

Tawfiq expressed his excitement about the future saying, “Indeed, I can see ourselves in 5 years time with many athletes competing and winning the World Championships and having at least two fitness clubs per region.”

Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “We are thrilled to have the Mauritian Federation join the iF3. We now have two National Federations on the African continent and are very excited to continue to watch and be a part of the growth and development of the sport in this part of the world. We especially look forward to have the Mauritian athletes join us at the World Championships in October.”
