New federation recognized in Lebanon

On June 2nd 2021, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Lebanese Functional Fitness Federation as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Lebanon.

Jacques Rustom, President of the Lebanese Federation, announced: “The Lebanese Federation of Functional Fitness is the official organization that promotes Functional Fitness and cultivates the reputation of this sport in Lebanon.”

He went on to explain that, “Functional Fitness attracts athletes from all regions of Lebanon. Functional Fitness is a safe, rewarding, and easily accessible sport to many Lebanese. We will build a solid and sustainable sport structure with a big potential for growth, aimed towards the recognition of our athletes.”

The Lebanese Federation is now eligible to send athletes to iF3 International events. This year the iF3 is planning both a World Championship and Masters World Championships to be held in late fall. More information about the work of the Lebanese Federation will be available soon at www.lebfunctionalfitness.org

Rustom expressed his excitement about the future saying, “We see a great future for this sport and we look forward to working with the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) to bring this sport to the Olympic Games.”

Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “We are excited to add a new federation in the Middle East. The sport is growing quickly in the region, and we look forward to the Lebanese Federation being able to promote that growth even further.”
