Abuja, Nigeria: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Nigeria Functional Fitness Association (NFFA) as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Nigeria.
Mac-Raji Bayo Atanda, President of the NFFA, announced, “We are starting a new Functional fitness community in Nigeria.”
He went on to explain that, ” Our 2026 roll out plans are to develop, train, acquire skills and technical know how, and attend relevant competitions in preparation for the iF3 World Championships and iF3 Masters World Championship 2026.”
Athletes from Nigeria will now be eligible to attend iF3 international events. Their first opportunities to do so will be at the end of the year at the iF3 World Championships in the United Kingdom, and the iF3 Masters World Championships in Aruba.
Bayo Atanda expressed his excitement about the future saying. ” We are glad to join the iF3 family for onward development for a more prosperous future.”
Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “The iF3 has been working hard to continue its expansion across Africa and welcomes the addition of a Nigerian Federation into the iF3 family. We look forward to helping them grow and develop the sport in Nigeria.”
