Sandnes, Norway October 22, 2017: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Norwegian Functional Fitness Federation (NOR3F) as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Norway.

Christer S. Idland, President of the Norwegian Federation, announced:

“We plan to develop a strong and inclusive national program in Norway to develop athletes to the highest level. We look forward to holding our first National Championship, and making a statement at Worlds in 2018!”

This weekend, the International Functional Fitness Championships will be held in Concord, California. The competition will feature team and individual competition from athletes all over the world. Though they are not sending a contingent of athletes to compete this year, the leaders of the Norway Federation will participate in the iF3 annual Congress meeting in order to contribute to building and improving the sport around the world. More information about the work of the Norwegian Federation is available at: https://www.nor3f.no/

Idland also expressed his excitement for the future of the sport and the Federation by saying “Our sport and our athletes has been waiting for this! We are here to give them the attention, structure and credibility they deserve.”

Gretchen Kittelberger, Head of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “We are very excited to welcome the Norwegian Federation to the iF3. Competitive Functional Fitness sees many strong competitors come out of the Scandinavian region. We look forward to seeing not only the talent that will come out of Norway next season, but also how they contribute to the growth of the sport in the region.”
