San Juan, Puerto Rico August 23th, 2017: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Puerto Rico Functional Fitness Federation (PRFFF) as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Puerto Rico.

Enrique “Henry” Torano, President of Puerto Rico Federation, announced, “We are very excited to play a role in such a crucial step in the development of Functional Fitness as a sport worldwide and especially in Puerto Rico.”

“Puerto Rico will be bringing one male and one female athlete to compete as individuals at the 2017 iF3 Championships. Said athletes will be Emmanuel Maldonado and Zummer Pagan.”

The International Functional Fitness Championships will be held October 21-22, 2017 in Concord, California. The competition will feature team and individual competition from athletes all over the world. More information about the work of the Puerto Federation will become available on the Puerto Rico Functional Fitness Federation website and social media pages, which will go live in August.

Torano expressed his excitement about the announcement of the Federation and the future of the sport by saying “Functional Fitness is my passion. It’s so good to see it finally taking the form of a real, organized sport.”

Gretchen Kittelberger, Head of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “The announcement of the Puerto Rico Functional Fitness Federation is a very important one for us as an organization. With this announcement, we are sending a message to the community that we are creating a system where all nations, big and small, are welcome to get involved, compete, and send their best to perform on an international stage. We look forward to seeing the Puerto Rico Federation continue to grow and are excited to watch their athletes in October.”
