In a live announcement today, the International Functional Fitness Federation revealed that Moscow, Russia has been appointed to host the World Functional Fitness Championships in 2022.
The president of the Russian Federation, Alexey Barymov was very happy with the decision:
“First of all I would like to thank the iF3 for giving us such an opportunity. It is very important for us because since 2013 we have hosted dozens of competitions every year in Russia and Cyprus. But this will be the first World Championship for us in this sport.”
The Russian Federation has access to it’s own arena, Salyut Geraklion, in the northwestern parts of Moscow with a full-size football field, 400 meter runnning tracks and an indoor stadium equipped for functional fitness.
The dates for the 2022 event has yet to be decided, but most likely it will be in September or October.
