Moscow, Russia December 19th, 2017: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Общероссийская физкультурно-спортивная общественная организация “Федерация функционального многоборья” as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Russia.
Oxana Slivenko, President of the Russian Functional Fitness Federation, announced, “We consider the admission to the IFFF and the opportunity to participate in the international competitions as the new stage in the functional fitness development, which will give a new impulse and incentive to the sports development and motivation of athletes in Russia!”
She further commented, “In 2018, we are starting building up the national team to participate in the international competitions. Therefore, we intend to arrange qualifying competitions, including the national championship. Additionally, we are planning to improve the training program for the coaches and referees in 2018.”
The Russian Functional Fitness Federation has been in development for the past four years and has recently achieved recognition from the Russian Ministry of Sport. This means that the government in Russia now officially recognizes competitive functional fitness as a sport in the country and also recognizes the work of Russian Functional Fitness Federation as a governing body of the sport. The Russian Federation will be holding their National Championships in June 2018. More information about the work of the Russian Federation is available at http://vseffm.ru/
Slivenko also expressed her excitement for the future of the sport and the Federation by saying “We hope for fruitful cooperation that will raise functional fitness to a new level!”
Gretchen Kittelberger, Head of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “We are so pleased to welcome the Russian Federation to the iF3. They have been hard at work for several years now putting on great events and organizing the sport in their country. It is an incredible accomplishment to achieve recognition from your ministry of sport, and we commend them for all the effort they have already put in to achieve this important goal. We know they will be excellent ambassadors of the sport, and we look forward to not only seeing their athletes compete on an international stage but also to the contributions and knowledge they will be able to pass on to our new and upcoming federations in other countries.
