On January 28th, Secretary General Anders Behrmann submitted his letter of resignation from the iF3 Board of Directors. The iF3 would like to thank Mr. Behrmann for his years of service and commitment to not only the iF3, but also to the growth of functional fitness in Sweden as one of the original founders of Swe3f. The iF3 wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
Effective immediately, Laurent Selleslaghs will replace Behrmann and move into the Secretary General role. Selleslaghs was the acting Chair of the iF3 Technical Official’s Committee and has a deep understanding and commitment to the iF3 vision and mission. Selleslaghs, 50, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the iF3 from his multifaceted career. With a decade of service as a paramedic and over two decades as a dedicated police officer, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to public safety and community well-being.
Beyond his extensive work in emergency services, Selleslaghs has devoted himself to the realm of sports officiating for over 25 years. As a former board member of the Flanders Taekwondo Federation and Chair of the provincial taekwondo association in Antwerp, he has played integral roles in the development and organization of competitive martial arts events. With a background as an International Taekwondo Kyorugi and Poomsee Referee, his keen eye and decision-making have earned him respect both locally and globally.
In addition to his contributions to the martial arts community, Selleslaghs has been an avid Functional Fitness enthusiast since 2013, leveraging his passion for fitness to enhance his performance in all aspects of life. Since 2016, he has embarked on a journey across the globe, serving as a judge at numerous prestigious competitions, further solidifying his reputation as a trusted and knowledgeable sports official.
Until recently, he was the operations director of Community Fitness Events where he managed all its competitions in 8 countries for several years.
Selleslaghs will serve in the Secretary General role in an interim capacity until the next iF3 Board Meeting when a full discussion and vote can occur.
Selleslaghs expressed his excitement about joining the iF3 Board saying, “I am thrilled to be a part of the iF3 Board. This is an incredible opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of the organization’s goals, and I am eager to collaborate with fellow members to further advance its mission and driving innovation and excellence forward.”
iF3 President Gretchen Kittelberger commented, “Laurent has been actively involved with the iF3 for several years now and has proven he has strong knowledge of not only the sport itself but also of sport governance. We know he will make an immediate impact to the iF3, particularly in helping us organize and mobilize our Committees more effectively as well as helping us improve the consistency of our event delivery. We are eager to get him involved on some of our bigger projects and look forward to working collaboratively with him as a Board Member.”
