Bratislava, Slovakia September 26, 2024: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Slovenská Asociácia Funkcného Fitness as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Slovakia.
Robert Rybansky, President of the Slovak Association, announced, “I am proud to announce the establishment of the Slovak Functional Fitness Association (SAFF), whose main mission is to support all athletes and gyms dedicated to developing functional fitness in Slovakia. Our goal is to raise awareness of this dynamic sport, officially oversee national competitions, and enable our athletes to represent Slovakia with pride at international events.”
He went on to explain that, ” I believe that our society needs unity – movement is the foundation of health for all of us and the path to a better, healthier population. These foundations should be taught from an early age. Functional fitness has the tremendous potential to change people’s lives.”
The Slovak Federation is now eligible to send athletes to iF3 international events. Their first opportunities to do so will be at 2024 iF3 Super World Championships December 13-15th in Budapest, Hungary. Rybansky expressed his excitement about the future saying, “I have over 11 years of experience with functional fitness and as the owner of 3 locations with over 600 members, I believe SAFF will be a benefit to all of Slovakia as well as I see the benefits to all of our members who visit our locations. I look forward to working with iF3. It’s going to be a great ride.”
Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “We are excited to be welcoming the Slovak Federation to the iF3 Family. They initially approached the iF3 already having formed an association, with a good knowledge of and experience in our sport, and an understanding of the work and goals of the iF3. This has allowed us to move very quickly in offering them membership and getting them involved this season. We look forward to see Slovak athletes competing at international events soon.”
