Technical Officials
Technical Officials (TOs) are the judges of functional fitness. The iF3 offers training and certification for international TOs along a pathway ranging from Class I to Class III. In order to become an internationally certified TO for the International Functional Fitness Federation and be eligible to officiate at any iF3 sanctioned event, you must be at least an International Technical Official Class I . There are two tracks to becoming a Class 1 TO. You will select a track based on the education pathway available for TO’s in your country.
The iF3 TO Pathway Overview
The iF3 offers certification to Technical Officials (TOs) who successfully meet the requirements for each phase. There are currently three classes of iF3 Technical Officials. You must complete the requirements for the previous Class before beginning the requirements for the next higher class.
iF3 Class I TO
Class I is the entry level of the International Technical Officials Pathway. Officials must meet the initial qualification requirements before they can begin the testing required to earn the Class I designation. The testing requirements to become a Class I TO include a written test and an in-person evaluation. Both must be passed within 18 months of each other to earn this designation.
iF3 Class II TO
Class II Technical Officials have received special training regarding judging team competition and judging youth athletes. To earn the Class II designation, TOs must complete the Class II educational course, pass the written test, and pass an in-person evaluation.
iF3 Class III TO
Class III Technical Officials have been specifically trained to serve as Head TO’s, handle appeals, and evaluate other TOs. To earn the Class III designation, TOs must complete the Class III educational course, pass the written test, and pass an in-person evaluation.
Class I Initial Requirements
There are two pathways a TO can pursue in order to meet the initial requirements to move on to Class I testing. These are explained below.

If Your Country Has an NF WITH National Level Technical Official Education

If you are from a country that has a National Federation which already offers Technical Officials’ Education, AND you have completed the highest available level of your National Federation’s educational program, you can proceed directly to the iF3 Class I testing without needing to meet any further requirements.
Your National Federation’s TO Program leader will be notified when you register to begin your Class I testing. They will then certify to the iF3 that you have indeed completed the highest TO course available to you on a National level. Once you complete your international testing requirements you will become a iF3 Class I TO.
If Your Country Does Not Have and NF or your NF does not have National Level Technical Official Education

If you are from a country that does not have a National Federation or has a Federation that does yet offer a Technical Officials’ education program, you can apply to begin iF3 Class I testing. After filling out an application about your prior judging experience, the iF3 Technical Officials Committee will review your application and either invite you to begin testing or offer feedback on improvements they would like to see in your application.
While your application is being reviewed you will be given access to study materials and will be allowed to take the iF3 Class I written exam. However, your examination will not be graded until your application has been reviewed.
Licensed TO's
This list will be updated once the first group of TO’s finishes both their written and in-person evaluations.
