Stockholm, Sweden August 10th, 2017: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of Svenska Förbundet för Funktionell Fitness (Swe3F) as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Sweden.

Marcus Herou, President of the Swedish Federation, announced, “Sweden is a country with a strong sentiment regarding non profit sport, and in recent years a demand for an organisation which governs the movement we are all part of has risen exponentially. When we heard IF3 were making a move we decided to be a part of it, and we believe that we will get great traction.”

“Sweden is excited to be participating in the first International Functional Fitness Federation Championships. Our athlete selection process is underway and we are excited to bring some incredible talent to California. Half the national team roster is already filled.”

The International Functional Fitness Championships will be held October 21-22, 2017 in Concord, California. The competition will feature team and individual competition from athletes all over the world. Sweden will be bringing 3 individual males, 3 individual females, and a team of four (2 males and 2 females) to represent their country at the competition.

Herou expressed his excitement about the announcement of the Federation and the future of the sport by saying “The sport is on the verge to grow substantially, and we are excited to be a part of that process.”

Gretchen Kittelberger, Head of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “We are thrilled to announce our recognition of Svenska Förbundet för Funktionell Fitness as the governing body for competitive functional fitness in Sweden. This marks our first official announcement of a federation in Europe, and we are excited to see continued expansion of functional fitness federations on the European continent.”
