Moshi, Tanzania December 11, 2025: Today, the International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) announced its recognition of the Tanzanian Functional Fitness League (TFFL) as the national governing body for competitive functional fitness in Tanzania.
Hassan Julius Mshana, President of the TFFL, announced, “We are now the part of this great family called the International Functional Fitness Federation. We are here to create a revolution in fitness industry arround every Tanzanian corner. Functional Fitness is the only key that will make us mentally and physically fit and open the door of opportunities to anyone who would like to join.”
He went on to explain that, “we are going to start the year 2026 by building the fittest and most athletic community possible that will be able to represent Tanzania in international competitions. We will do this through creating and stimulating fitness clubs, from inside homes, schools, colleges and gyms to the national level and then to the international levels.”
Athletes from Tanzania will now be eligible to attend iF3 international events. Their first opportunities to do so will be next year at the iF3 World Championships, location to be announced, and the iF3 Masters World Championships in Aruba in October.
Hassan Mshana expressed his excitement about the future saying. ”I’m so happy and so thankful to the International Functinal Fitness Federation for accepting us as part of their family. Our goal is to make Functional Fitness a competative sport in our country and worldwide. I’m ready to work with the iF3 to make this sport grow in my country and get recognized by the Ministry of Sports and see the sport in the Olympic Games.”
Gretchen Kittelberger, President of the International Functional Fitness Federation, commented, “We are very excited to welcome Tanzania to the iF3 family. The sport is still relatively new in the country and the region, and we are looking forward to the opportunity to expose more of East Africa to functional fitness at both the competitive and recreational level.”
