The International Military Sports Council (CISM) will hold the first ever Military World Functional Fitness Challenge July 3-8th 2023 in Warendorf, Germany.
CISM is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the worldwide military sports organization and is devoted to bringing together armed forces military personnel from all nations through sports events and competitions. CISM holds Military World Championships each year in various sports as well as the Military World Summer Games every four years. 140 countries are CISM members and participate in CISM events.
If there is enough interest and participation in the functional fitness challenge, the event has the potential to be elevated to a World Championship in the future and could thus be firmly and permanently included as a new sport in the program of sports of the International Military Sports Council.
The International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3) is working to support the event by providing rules, standards, and officiating assistance as needed. Active Military from any nation which is a member of CISM are eligible for the event. However, each country will determine their own qualifying procedures.
